2016 Mastrojanni Brunello de Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy
Mastrojanni Brunello de Montalcino! Yes, it tastes as good as it sounds rolling off the tongue. Is it worth every penny? Answer: Since I bought this wine pretty much for myself, then ABSOLUTELY!
Mastrojanni has been writing history with its wines since 1975, earning international acclaim from top publications like Wine Spectator and the Wine Advocate. Today they have become one of the most respected Montalcino producers in Italy, making wines with personality, individuality and elegance.
Mastrojanni’s modern style is especially showcased by the power of the lauded 2015 vintage in Tuscany… Which is when we met and fell in love. I tasted a long lineup of Brunellos a while back and I just kept coming back to this wine… It had a little spunk, a personality, a uniqueness (remind you of anyone 😉) so I knew I just have to have it. Think ripe black cherry and fresh fig, sun-dried tomato, tobacco, new leather & spice. Bold & generous, yearning for the grill. It’s not cheap, but what you get for the price still over-delivers… Salud!
