Château Angludet Margaux, Bordeaux, FR
Château Angludet is a fine, elegant wine. At each vintage, we seek to achieve the ideal balance between the fruit, the structure, the tannin and the freshness afforded by acidity to guarantee out standing ageing potential. Angludet's great aromatic finesse becomes apparent from the 3rd year after harvest and continues to develop for decades.
Vines grow in depleted soils with a mixture of gravel and medium sized pebbles with some sand. Blending of Château Angludet begins in the February after the harvest. The wines from the best plots are then selected by Benjamin Sichel for their complementary qualities. Thus, only 70% of the volume of the harvest is selected for Château Angludet. Traditional vinification is carried out in cement vats. Vatting lasts between 20 and 30 days, depending on the vintage. After malolactic fermentation, the wine goes into barrel (1/3 new every year) and remain there for 12 months. The process of selection for the final blend is strict (as only the best wines can be included) and is done by a series of tastings. Once the final blend has been done, the wine is fined with egg whites and very lightly filtered before bottling.
92 James Suckling
Aromas of wet earth, dried leaves and currants follow through to a medium body, fine tannins and a delicious finish. So fine and polished. Subtle. Hard not to drink now. Better after 2021.
